Beachfront Santa Barbara

Beachfront Santa Barbara

This 1970’s “Contemporary” home was crying out for renovation.  Another example of a “down-to-the-studs” project, this dated and dilapidated home was brought to life and then some.  With vision and designs by Wade Davis Design, adding minimal floor area, modern upgrades, and luxury finishes transformed this home from embarrassing to a showcase.

The showstopper of this home is undoubtedly, the large 9-panel Nanawall sliding door system. Facing the ocean, this system allows one to completely open the living space up to the patio and ocean.  The 9 panels move around two 90° corners and all “park” in an adjacent and out-of-the-way parking bay.  There are NO corner posts, no obstructions, just a phenomenal view, and setting.

An art gallery hallway, complete with full glass windows facing the new pool courtyard, provided interior access to the two guest suites as well as a beautiful view of the pool.  Speaking of the pool, the old one just had to go, so LFH completely removed it and built an entirely new custom pool and courtyard with all the features, finishes, and style to match the new home.  The only element salvaged were the gorgeous 1920’s Deco solid brass gates entering into the pool courtyard.  A second Nanawall system opened the family room up to the pool for those days when the ocean was too cool… on the hot days… opening both Nanawall systems allowed the entire home to be opened from pool to ocean.

LFH oversaw the addition of an all-new radiant heat system in floors throughout the house.  An “unseen” feature that brings a wonderful warmth to this contemporary home.  To bring this home into the 21st Century, a highly sophisticated home-automation system was incorporated (audio/video streaming to multiple locations, networking, security/surveillance, lighting and shade control, garage doors control, pool cover status, gate controls, comfort, etc.).

A moderate kitchen with a second butler pantry/kitchen along with a very custom bar completely clad in glass tile and Starphire glass shelving made family time and entertaining easy and comfortable.  Since a beachfront home without a firepit and built-in BBQ system just isn’t palatable, these, along with flush-mounted ceiling space heaters, were added and made the ocean-patio a beautiful extension of the living space for both relaxing and entertaining.  Speaking of entertainment, a complete home theater with a state-of-the-art screen, projection system, surround sound, and full-featured leather theater chairs took things to the next level.

All new finishes and fixtures completed the renovation with marbles, plasters, stainless steel, and stone slabs, bringing both a contemporary element and a warm element into harmony.
